My CV in Summary

I have worked successfully in multiple sectors; media, PR, Government relations, policy making, operations, project and programme management (for major sporting events), strategy development, research. I am highly adaptable, but also have specialist knowledge of crime, policing, security, interpersonal violence and safeguarding. My communications skills and strategic thinking are particular strengths.

Media & communications

I started my career in media, public relations and Government relations. I worked as Editorial Assistant in the Paris office of The Independent newspaper, and developed campaigns for major brands such as Unilever, McCann Erickson, TubeLines, the Paris 2012 Olympic bid team, and British Nuclear Fuels. I have prepared senior staff for media and Parliamentary engagement, and appeared myself in all major UK print and broadcast media.

Central Government

I spent a decade in increasingly senior roles dealing with crime, policing and national security. I worked for administrations of every political shade - Labour, Coalition (Conservative/Liberal Democrat) and Conservative, operating effectively with Ministers, Special Advisers and fellow officials. I was made an OBE for services to UK security, crime prevention and victim support.

Mission driven organisations

I was CEO of a highly acclaimed national charity for over six years. Throughout my career I have also taken on numerous pro bono positions with social purpose organisations, both in the UK and internationally. I have focused on the links between social purpose organisations and emerging digital technologies, and supported organisations (both charitable and fledgling private companies) seeking investment from private equity / VC investors.

Other

My commentary and writing has been published many times in my own name, and occasionally as ghost-writing for others. Example articles for The Independent, Daily Telegraph and The Guardian are here, here and here. Sample academic research I've contributed to is here.
